In the XIth bidding round, IOC won city gas permits for nine geographical locations

In the last bidding round, Indian Oil Corp won city gas licences for 9 of the 15 high-potential geographical regions (GAs) and aims to invest Rs 7,000 crore in creating infrastructure in these areas, according to a statement. In the XIth bidding round, the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) requested bids for 65 GAs. It attracted over 430 bids, with Indian Oils 53 bids being the most of any party. Other major bidders were Adani NSE 1.05 per cent, Think Gas, and HPCL NSE 0.00 per cent. The identities of the winners have yet to be posted on the PNGRB website. According to India Oil, the licences it received an account for 33% of the demand potential of all GAs offered in the XIth round. The demand potential varies according to the demographic and economic profile of each licence region, and companies compete fiercely in locations with more automobiles and industries.
